Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 August 2026
This policy explains what personal data ShipZume collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. It applies to www.shipzume.com and to every page on it.
1. Who is responsible
ShipZume Media Ltd operates this website and is the data controller for the purposes of the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation.

2. Data we collect
2.1 Information you give us
If you use our contact form we process the name, email address, and optionally the telephone number and company name you enter, together with your message. We also record your IP address at the moment of submission to protect the form against automated abuse.
2.2 Information collected automatically
Our web server writes a log entry for every request. It contains the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, the HTTP status code and the browser user-agent string. These logs are used only to keep the site running and secure, and they are deleted after 14 days.
2.3 What we deliberately do not collect
Every clock and conversion on this site is calculated inside your browser using JavaScript and your device's own time zone data. The times you enter, the cities you select and your device's local time are never transmitted to our servers, never logged and never stored. We do not request or use location permissions. We do not create user accounts, we do not operate a newsletter, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves.
3. Legal bases for processing
- Contact form — Article 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR: performing or preparing a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
- Server logs and security — Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning website.
- Analytics and advertising cookies — Article 6(1)(a) GDPR: your consent, which you give through the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We set a strictly necessary cookie to remember your cookie choice and, where a form is in use, a session cookie. No analytics or advertising cookie is set before you consent. Full details, including names and lifetimes, are in our cookie policy. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer.
5. Advertising: Google AdSense and third-party vendors
This site is funded by advertising. When you consent to advertising cookies, the following applies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
- Where consent is refused or withdrawn, ads may still be shown but will be non-personalised and will not rely on advertising cookies.
We implement Google Consent Mode, which means the advertising and analytics scripts receive your consent state before any measurement takes place. Google's own handling of data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
6. Analytics
If you consent to analytics cookies we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and where the site is slow. IP anonymisation is enabled. Without your consent, no analytics script is loaded and no measurement cookie is set.
7. Fonts and external resources
We load the Lato typeface from Google Fonts. This transmits your IP address to Google as a technical necessity of delivering the file. We use no other external scripts, trackers, social widgets or embedded media.
8. Data sharing
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising on our own behalf. Data may be processed by our hosting provider as a processor acting on our instructions, and by Google as an independent controller for consented advertising and analytics. Transfers outside the UK and EEA rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
9. Retention
| Data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Contact form submissions | 24 months after the enquiry is closed |
| Server log files | 14 days |
| Cookie consent record | 12 months |
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data (Article 15), to rectification (16), to erasure (17), to restriction of processing (18), to data portability (20), to object to processing based on legitimate interests (21), and to withdraw consent at any time (7(3)). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, email hello@shipzume.com.
11. Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are protected against cross-site request forgery, and all database access uses parameterised queries. Access to submitted enquiries is restricted to authenticated administrators.
13. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our processing changes or the law does. Material changes are reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page, and where consent is affected the cookie banner will ask again.
